This log analyzer has been around since 2000. And, it appears to have been actively maintained during this whole time.
Useful statistics that are hard to find anywhere else like gzip/deflate compression, smarter geolocation, visit duration and worm attack rate. Also capable of detecting other information like user screen size if you are willing to add a little html code to your pages.
An earlier version of AWStats had critical security holes that could expose your web server to attack if it was left in a public directory. However, this software is actively maintained and has frequent updates.
