About CGI Counters
This category is for page counters that run directly on your server. A long, long time ago, people used to use something called "Server Side Includes" or CGI to do this; nowadays, this technology has been entirely supplanted by PHP.

- BBClone - Popular PHP counter
- FTP Web Log - A freeware perl script which monitors the amount of information requested and sent via FTP and the WWW, and creates large, graphical report.
- LiveCounter Classic - Server software for LiveCounter server. Uses both Java and CGI for some interesting features.
- Matt's Scripts' Counter - The counter of the popular CGI archive. Requires C program called 'fly.' Has image-based and text versions available.
- phpMyVisites - PHP/MySQL hit tracker
- Scintilla's Counter - Image-based. Various options, including some limited statistics.
- ShortStat - Nice-looking PHP stats
- Simple Counter - Uses server-side includes. Can display either a test count or an image with custom digits.
- SlimStat - PHP stats based on ShortStat
- SSD Counter - Available in C and in Perl. Freeware, with registration. Hosting options available.
